Notes on evidence: | Probably originally at Sawley, but transferred to Westminster by or just after the end of the Middle Ages and seen there by Bale who lists the texts in his Index, with reference 'Ex coenobio Westmonasteriensi' or 'Ex libro Westmonasteriensi' and very fully described by a rather later writer in a Wrest Park MS. (HMC 2nd report, no. 19) under the heading 'Ex quodam antiquo volumine Westmonasteriensi'. Joscelyn says that Pekyns, prebendary aof Westminster, had Simeon of Durham and John and Richard of Hexham, probably this MS. |
