| Notes on evidence: | Probably the 'large new missal' bequeathed by John Gower to the altar of the chapel of St John Baptist in St Mary Overy, where Gower was buried. On fol. 9v is a kneeling man with a coat of arms as on Gower's tomb in the church and as in the MS. of his Latin poems, Glasgow, UL, Hunterian MS. T.2.17 (59). For translation of the will see G. C.
