'On a leaf of paper pasted on the inside of the ancient cover of this MSS, and too friable and decayed to be separated from it and preserved, there was written: Thys fayre Boke I have fro the Abbey at Saint Albons in thys yeare of our Lord MCCCCLXXXX The Sixt day of Apryll.
