Erased inscription (s. xiv) at the beginning contains the pressmark 'VII' and the name Baldwin, Archbishop [of Canterbury 1185–90], and is no doubt the note of ownership of Rochester: 'VII [regular Rochester form and position of number] [... Epistularum pauli ...] Baldewini archiepiscopi' (fol. 1v).
