Notes on evidence: | Pressmark 'C. x' at beginning and end (fols. 3r, 114v). Quire xi of the old numeration is missing: it presumably contained the text 'De combustione ecclesie cathedralis sancte trinitatis norwic'' recorded in the old table of contents, but now missing. The dialect of the English pieces is East Anglian (see Joseph Hall, Early Middle English, p. 591). Bale saw De combustione . . . at Norwich, or knew of it (Index, p. 517). |
