'Dompnus Eudo de Mere fecit scribere hunc librum et dedit domui beati thome martyris. Anima eius et anima patris eius Gervasii et omnium fidelium anime per misericordiam dei requiescat in pace. Amen'.

MRJ suggested that this was the abbey of St Thomas of Lesnes (called also Westwood) near Woolwich. Listed under Lessness in MLGB 2nd edn (1964) on basis of ex dono inscription to house of St Thomas the Martyr, but Stafford is perhaps more likely: see N. R. Ker, 'The English manuscripts of the Moralia of Gregory the Great', in Kunsthistorische Forschungen Otto Pächt zu seinem 70. Geburtstag (Salzburg 1972), pp. 77–89.

Medieval binding.
