Seneca, Ad Lucillum; Augustinus, De sancta trinitate; id., Confessiones — Droitwich, Worcestershire. Covent of Austin friars.

Provenance: Droitwich, Worcestershire. Covent of Austin friars.
Location: Brasenose College, Oxford
Shelfmark: 13
Author/Title: Seneca, Ad Lucillum; Augustinus, De sancta trinitate; id., Confessiones
Type of evidence: i: evidence from an inscription of ownership by an individual member of a religious house (which may not, however, be evidence for institutional ownership)
Notes on evidence:

An inscription s. xiv on fol. iii verso has been read no doubt correctly as "Iste est liber [fratrum] Iohannis [Dentone senioris et iunioris. ordinis] sancti augustini conuentus [Wichie] in quo continentur ...", but the bracketed words are not now quite certainly legible by u. v. light, as a reagent has been used. NB The whole inscription is much better by u. v. light.

Date: s. xiii
Ownership:

Given by William Smith, the founder.

Notes:

"Was a caucio in the ... chest a. d. 13r [?]" (nearly illegible inscription on fol. iii recto).
