Seneca, Ad Lucillum; Augustinus, De sancta trinitate; id., Confessiones — Droitwich, Worcestershire. Covent of Austin friars.
Provenance: | Droitwich, Worcestershire. Covent of Austin friars. |
Location: | Brasenose College, Oxford |
Shelfmark: | 13 |
Author/Title: | Seneca, Ad Lucillum; Augustinus, De sancta trinitate; id., Confessiones |
Type of evidence: | i: evidence from an inscription of ownership by an individual member of a religious house (which may not, however, be evidence for institutional ownership) |
Notes on evidence: | An inscription s. xiv on fol. iii verso has been read no doubt correctly as "Iste est liber [fratrum] Iohannis [Dentone senioris et iunioris. ordinis] sancti augustini conuentus [Wichie] in quo continentur ...", but the bracketed words are not now quite certainly legible by u. v. light, as a reagent has been used. NB The whole inscription is much better by u. v. light. |
Date: | s. xiii |
Ownership: | Given by William Smith, the founder. |
Notes: | "Was a caucio in the ... chest a. d. 13r [?]" (nearly illegible inscription on fol. iii recto). |
